For the Council, retiring technology is not simply a matter of removing unwanted equipment. Assets need to be collected and audited properly, data needs to be handled securely and there needs to be a clear record of what has happened to each device.
Aura manages that process on the Council’s behalf, coordinating collections, asset auditing, secure processing and reporting before providing the final settlement.
An important part of the service is also identifying where equipment still has commercial value. Rather than treating retired technology as waste by default, reusable assets can be assessed for resale so value can be returned to the Council wherever possible.
That approach proved particularly valuable on a recent collection, where the level of residual value recovered exceeded expectations while still giving the Council confidence that its equipment and data had been handled securely and responsibly.
The result is an ITAD process that combines security, clear reporting and responsible disposal with a commercial outcome for equipment that still has useful life remaining.
